OUTFITTERS & GUIDES | Top

In the same venue as the Big Game Display, and throughout the convention Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, the Outfitter’s Area is certain to be a bustling place. This is a great opportunity for convention attendees to explore hunting opportunities and gather information for next year’s adventures. As many as sixty outfitters will be on hand to share information and take booking. (Note: any outfitter interested in the limited booth space yet available should contact the Club headquarters).
AUTHOR'S ROOM | Top

Another new venue this convention is the opportunity for members to check out books and videos published by other members. During select times during all four days of the convention, a room will be available for members, or their designated representative, to sell their books/videos. Pre-registration is required for a sales table. Contact Club headquarters (507-867-4144, admin@pope-young.org) or check out the link below for the registration form.

GLENN ST. CHARLES COLLAGE | Top
Additionally this year, we would invite and encourage all members to submit their own “Glenn St. Charles” photos for a very special photo collage display in remembrance of our founder. Likely, we all have taken photos of Glenn, or had our picture taken with him – many probably taken and carefully inscribed by Margaret! Let’s share these photos and show just how many lives Glenn touched, just in our own little circle.
ARCHERY HALL OF FAME INDUCTION | Top

Join us Thursday evening as the Archery Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. inducts two bowhunters into the Hall Class of 2010. Inductees are our very own G. Fred Asbell, past P&Y President and longtime Board member, and Will “Chief” Compton, who mentored Dr. Saxton Pope and Arthur Young in the 1910s. The Banquet starts with cocktails at 5pm and proceeds to dinner and the program. All of us at the Pope & Young Club are proud to recognize Fred’s years of service and join him in receiving this high honor. A limit of 300 tickets are available on a “first come, first served” basis.

For additional information check out www.archeryhalloffame.org.

FRIDAY NIGHT RECOGNITION BANQUET – A TRIBUTE TO GLENN ST. CHARLES | Top

Join the Club for this very special tribute to our founding father, Glenn St. Charles. A look back at his lifetime of active involvement in promoting and molding the sport of bowhunting, will include testimonials and personal remembrances.

Friday night is also our “people” night. A ceremony will recognize the recipients of the P&Y Conservation Award, the Stewardship Award and the Lee Gladfelter Memorial Award, as well as the Photo & Art Competition winners and the 27th Biennium Panel Judges. Special entertainment will be provided by bowhunter and recording artist Chad Slagle. The program is then followed by a “social hour”.

AUCTION | Top

Saturday afternoon features an event that has become a convention highlight – the P&Y Auction, which raises important funds for Club projects such as the Conservation Fund and the Museum.

Additionally many unique, historical and “priceless” archery-related items are auctioned. The silent auction runs all day Friday. Click here for an updated auction hunt list.

27TH BIENNIUM AWARDS BANQUET | Top

The convention will culminate with the 27th Biennial Awards presentation and banquet, Saturday evening. The 27th Biennial Awards will be given in recognition of the most outstanding big game animals of the last two years. All new World’s Records will be recognized and the Club’s highest honor, the Ishi Award, may be given. We have a very special guest joining us for this monumental occasion. Also, the drawing for the 2011 50th Anniversary Mega-Raffle winners will take place. A limit of 1,600 banquet tickets are available on a “first ordered” basis.

Make plans now to attend the Pope & Young Club’s special celebration of 50 years! We look forward to seeing you in Minnesota!

You will also find an antique toy museum, bookstore, candy store, along with other unique attractions. We will then take a short ride into Wabasha, where we will spend the rest of our day. We will be visiting the National Eagle Center. You will get an up close view of bald eagles and learn more about our national bird. You will have plenty of “free time” to enjoy some of the local shopping and have lunch at one of the local eateries. The bus will be available at 1:00pm to take you to Slipperys Bar & Restaurant (this is where scenes from the movie “Grumpy Old Men” were filmed).

PHOTO & ART CONTEST | Top

A P&Y Convention classic! Sharing memories of hunting trips and the scenery and animals we cherish is an important part of the overall experience. This is a fun way to participate in the convention!

You are invited to participate in the Pope and Young Club's Photo and Art Competition. The competition will take place during the 2011 Convention and is open to all Club members and to the immediate family of members. You do not need to consider yourself a "professional" photographer or artist to participate. Need not be present at the convention to participate. All entrants are welcome.

This is a fun way to participate in the Club and share your memories and/or interests. In fact, participation in the Photo and Art Contest counts towards the new participation requirements incorporated into the membership advancement criteria.

All electronically-submitted images will be mounted on cardboard (for hanging purposes), with no matting or framing.

In other words, if you wish to have a different size, a different format, framing or matting, you must ship or deliver the photo yourself.

Any images sent electronically and used for the photo contest will be accepted with the mutual understanding that the Club will possess the right to future reproduction of the image. The images will also be displayed in a Museum display on a rotating basis.

Whichever shipping option you choose, you must make sure that you register your entry(s) with the Club office by the registering deadline, April 1st, 2011!
