Pope & Young Club Continues Support For Jack Creek Preserve
As a longtime supporter of Jack Creek Preserve, Pope & Young is pleased to continue its mutually beneficial partnership. Jack Creek Preserve’s message, “Preserving Wildlife And Its Habitat By Educating Youth About The Importance Of Conservation,”says it all. Participants range from summer youth camp attendees to university students and researchers who utilize the 4,500-acre preserve for a variety of studies.
“We had 36 campers attend our July Jack Creek Preserve Youth Camp, and 28 attended the August camp. We provided classes on mapping and orienteering, outdoor living skills, shelter building, photography, fly casting, leather working, dutch oven cooking, archery, and several special speakers that taught the campers about astronomy, being bear aware, and about noxious weeds, says Abigail King, Executive Director of Jack Creek Preserve Foundation. “While campers enjoyed all of the topics covered at camp, it is clear that archery is what excites them the most. With funds granted by the Pope and Young Club, we purchased much-needed 3-D targets, bow parts, arrows, and were able to provide an overall quality experience for campers. The feedback that we have been getting from both campers, who want to return next year, and from parents has been very encouraging. We would not have been able to provide camps of this quality without the generosity of the Pope and Young Club.”
