JOB OPENING ANNOUNCMENT

Here is your opportunity to join the highly dedicated and professional staff of the Pope and Young Club while serving as one of the leading authorities in the scoring community.  The Pope and Young Club has been the protector / promoter of bowhunting and the voice for bowhunters in North America since 1961.  Be the director of the largest bowhunting records program in the world, while working with the some of the best bowhunters and measurers on the planet.

6Who may be considered

Our ideal candidate will be an official measurer and member for Pope and Young or Boone and Crocket Club; preferably with panel judging experience.  He/she must possess computer skills for emails, spreadsheets, word processing, and records programs.  Having keen attention to detail is crucial, along with the ability to multi-task, being extremely organized, while having good written / oral communication skills.  Lastly, our candidate will need the ability to instruct new measurers at training workshops throughout the country.  

7. Job Description

            Represent the Pope and Young Club on behalf of the records program.

Provide timely support (response) by either telephone and/or email to the Club’s measurers, hunters, and any other entity for topics specifically related to the Club’s records program. 

Review records and authenticate for publishing in the quarterly printing of the Ethic magazine. 

Review and authenticate incoming records in the Club’s data base and process them completely within seven (7) days of being forwarded. 

Select potential candidates for the official measurers training course (when needed) and coordinate those selections with the Records chairman, and the records office assistant Coordinate and conduct measurer training workshops (four per calendar year), coordinating with the Boone and Crockett Club in order to streamline the course for consistency and accuracy. 

Review and oversee the Club’s official measurer’s recertification examination every four years. 

Coordinate and oversee special panels, with the assistance of the Records Chairman, for entries coming in at, or above, a current World Record of any specie. 

Review and select the top trophy recipients in each Big Game Species category for the Big Game Awards Convention. 

Coordinate with the records office staff to ensure that the invitation letter(s) are accurate, grammatically correct, and are sent in a timely manner. 

Every two years and prior to convention coordinate with the Executive Director and Records Chairman on a panel measuring location, while addressing shipping and storage issues, as well as securing volunteers needed for the judge’s panel process. 

Co-supervise the panel measuring process in conjunction with the Records Chairman every two years and at least two calendar months prior to the convention. 

Assist the Convention Planning Committee with the shipment (transportation) of animals to the convention site and setting up the Big Game Display every two years at the Club’s Big Game Awards Convention. 

Any other records related issue(s) that the Board or the Records Chairman deems appropriate for the Director of Records to perform. 

This position reports directly to the Executive Director for all administrative and office functions while working with the Records Chairman for any/all records related issues.
