One of our longtime Outfitter Partners, Steve Perrins of Perrins Rainy Pass Lodge, has committed to taking retired U.S. Army officer Daniel Gade on the Alaskan bowhunting adventure of a lifetime.
This marks the second wounded combat veteran Steve has hosted this year. Although this hunt was not in his budget, Steve has once again stepped up to make a dream hunt possible for an American hero.
Daniel is a decorated combat veteran who was wounded in action twice while serving as a tank company commander in Iraq, ultimately losing his right leg. Despite the challenges he has faced, Daniel has expressed a strong desire to experience an Alaskan hunt with his bow.
Steve has faithfully supported Pope & Young and the future of bowhunting conservation for many years. Now, Pope & Young is honored to support Steve in making this hunt a reality for a man who has sacrificed so much in service to our country.

About Daniel Gade:
Daniel Gade is a retired U.S. Army officer, college professor, and entrepreneur. While serving as a tank company commander in Iraq, he was decorated for valor and wounded in action twice, resulting in the amputation of his right leg.
During his military career, Daniel was selected to lead veterans and disability policy at the White House Domestic Policy Council from 2007 to 2008. He later served on the VA Advisory Committee on Disability Compensation from 2009 to 2013 and was appointed to the National Council on Disability in 2013 by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Following his retirement from active duty, Daniel served as Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services from 2022 to 2024. His lifelong commitment to serving others continues to inspire veterans and Americans across the country
