POPE AND YOUNG TO PARTNER WITH PREMIER CONSERVATION SCHOLARSHIP

POPE AND YOUNG PARTNERS WITH JOHN V. MESH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR UPCOMING 34th BIENNIAL CONVENTION

September 12th, 2024 -
Pope and Young, America’s leading bowhunting conservation organization, is pleased to announce a continued partnership with the John V. Mesh Memorial Scholarship. As part of this partnership, Pope and Young and the John V. Mesh Memorial will announce this year’s recipient of the scholarship at the 34th Biennial Pope and Young Convention in Glendale, AZ on April 9th-12th, 2025.

As part of their support of the Scholarship fund, Pope and Young will be auctioning off a truly memorable hunt, with all proceeds from the hunt going to the Scholarship fund to help further promote the sport of bowhunting. The special auction item will be sold to the highest bidder during Friday’s Auction, taking place during the Family Night banquet at the 34th Biennial Convention. Bidding can take place in person, or online during the auction. Further information about how to register and bid online will be coming soon.
“The John V. Mesh Memorial Scholarship is proud to be partners with the Pope and Young Club, we are truly honored to be awarding our scholarship at this year’s convention,” stated Jim Mesh of the John V Mesh Memorial Fund. “At the 33rd Biennial Convention we were incredibly honored to offer recipient Jordan Barth a $25,000 scholarship to continue his education in Wildlife Management Biology at The University of Wyoming. We’d like to invite any students who are pursuing an education in wildlife conservation to apply for the John V. Mesh Memorial Scholarship.”

About the John V. Mesh Memorial Fund:
John V. Mesh was a firefighter for the Kansas City, MO fire department. John had a strong passion for the outdoors, and getting kids involved in hunting. On the night of October 12th, 2015, John passed away in the line of duty because of fatal injuries sustained when an exterior wall collapsed on him. To honor John's memory and legacy, the John V. Mesh Memorial Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to sponsoring learning opportunities for children and scholarships for those interested in a profession within conservation was born. The organization hosts events throughout the year to get kids involved in hunting, and get them outdoors, and to raise money for the scholarship fund. The John V. Mesh Memorial gives a substantial scholarship each year to a student looking to go into a profession within the field of conservation.

“In order to continue fighting for bowhunting rights, we desperately need more students that will pursue a career in conservation, dedicating their life to helping preserve our passion,” stated Dylan Ray of Pope and Young. “Park Rangers, wildlife biologists, habitat management, we need more students who are interested in furthering our opportunities. It is so encouraging to hear about a scholarship that is solely dedicated to students looking for a career in conservation. Pope and Young is proud to stand and join the John V. Mesh Memorial Scholarship in this fight to preserve, promote, and protect our passion.”
